During the latter part of January 2006, Yahoo! Groups suffered a database error which caused serious delays in mail delivery. Yahoo's own service messages notifying the problem were caught up in the same delays, meaning that group owners, moderators and members were left in the dark for a period, and were also unable to pass the word to other groups and members about the delays and reason for them.

 

With this in mind we have created a notification list to provide an alternative means to communicate news of problems concerning delivery of Yahoo! Groups mail to interested parties. The list is open to all members, moderators and owners of Yahoo! Groups. Whilst we make every effort to provide information and updates in a timely manner, we accept no responsibilty for the accuracy of said information nor any delay in delivering it.

 

The list is served from servers not connected with Yahoo! and therefore, we hope, likely to be unaffected by issues at Yahoo!

 

The list is generally read-only - Normally only the list owners may post bulletins, but you may reply to a post or send a new one, providing it relates only to giving further information about any current issues at Yahoo!. The list owners will review such messages and approve them where appropriate and on-topic. Messages flaming Yahoo! Groups will NEVER be approved.

 

The list has no connection or affiliation with Yahoo! Groups, other than that the list owners are members of Yahoo! Groups themselves and wish to provide an alternative means to the Yahoo! Groups community to discover information about any current technical issues or delays.

 

We expect the list to be very low traffic, so join it and forget it. If we hear of an issue at Yahoo! Groups that might affect mail deliveries or performance of the Groups web site, we will issue a notification through the list, followed by any updates that we receive.
